Turmeric Fights Breast Cancer
Anderson Cancer Center, University of Texas – 2005
Article in Reuters about an interesting research done at the University of Texas. Researchers discovered that curcumin had better results in combating cancer in mice than the cancer drug paclitaxel, commercially known as Taxol. While 75% of the mice in the Taxol group developed lung tumors, only 50% of the curcumin-only group developed it. Meanwhile, in the curcumin+Taxol combo group, evidence of breast cancer that had spread to the lungs was only 22%, compared to 95% of animals that got no treatment at all.
Turmeric and Black Pepper Fight Cancer Stem Cells
From the book, Anticancer, A New Way of Life,
By David Servan-Schreiber, MD, PhD – 2009 Viking Press
A good explanation, in layman’s terms, of a clinical research done at the University of Michigan. The study demonstrated that chemicals found in turmeric and black pepper working together are capable of eliminating breast cancer stem cells without causing any damage to the normal breast cells, unlike conventional cancer treatments.
